The Art of Tradition’s Primary School Programme brings to life the world of Irish traditional music, in a way that is fun but also educational. Designed to support the Listening & Responding and Performance strands of the curriculum, students will have the opportunity to experience a variety of traditional instruments, learn simple song choruses in Irish and English, how to tell the difference between a reel, a jig and a hornpipe and play a simple tune with the band at the end if any budding musicians might be in the audience.
The trio that will visit schools nationwide between November and February is comprised of some of Ireland’s most highly regarded international touring traditional musicians, including: accordionist Martin Tourish (Altan); harpist, singer and TV presenter Cormac De Barra (Moya Brennan/ Clannad), uilleann piper, flute player and multi-instrumentalist Éamonn Galldubh (Riverdance), Full biographies can be found here.
This interactive production is designed for groups of at least 200 students. Pricing details may be found by getting in touch using the contact form.
